In November 2017, Brandon Strawn, a.k.a. Brando, moved from Lubbock, TX to Cerritos Beach, Baja California Sur, Mexico, to pursue his lifelong dream of living in the Baja and opening a “taco stand on the beach” on his land that he purchased 15 years earlier. On April 20, 2018, he realized his dream and opened Shaka’s Delicious Wood Cantina y Galeria.
Since his opening, Brando has grown his little “taco stand on the beach” into a destination location in the Baja by creating a fun and friendly atmosphere and a simple, but delicious menu of curated cocktails, local favorites and a few items that pay homage to the LBK. Shaka’s menu is the brain-child of Brando and his business partner/Executive Chef, Dustin Meeker, who is a trained Chef from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute and spent the last 15 years of his career as the Executive Chef for the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, before partnering with Brando at Shaka’s. Additionally, because Brando is the "face" of Shaka's, he needed someone to manage the finances, so he also partnered with long-time friend and business man, Kevin Stein.
Shaka’s Delicious Wood Cantina's concept is simple....provide great food and drinks, a fun and friendly atmosphere, with superior customer service that makes you feel like you’re part of the Shaka’s family.
